Business Talent aims to support the development of a world-class further education management system.
It provides a toolkit to support you if you are interested in recruiting senior public and private sector managers for senior roles in further education.
As well as developing and nurturing the talent that already exists within the sector, bringing in skills from outside may help us all to achieve even more. The Business Talent toolkit can give best practice guidance to support you in doing this.
Our toolkit has been developed specifically to support you and others like you in the further education sector.
As you’ll probably know, the recruitment process for a senior manager is complex and some aspects are covered by legislation. The toolkit is a comprehensive guide to support you in navigating all aspects of recruitment and selection, and is intended as a resource you can access whenever you need it.
It is also designed to support your existing systems - not to supersede or replace any systems you already use.
The content of the toolkit has been produced in consultation with a number of sector organisations, as well as HR Directors and other recruitment decision makers in sector organisations, consultants, and potential employees.
The toolkit provides a checklist for each stage of the recruitment process to help you ensure that your recruitment practices don’t exclude candidates from outside the sector.
You can also find a general checklist for the whole recruitment process, and tips on how to attract candidates from outside of the further education sector in the attracting talented leaders from outside further education section.
The Business Talent recruitment toolkit breaks the recruitment of senior managers down into four different stages. You can access the guidelines and templates for use in each of these stages by following the links below.
Define - Identifying the job requirements and the process that will attract the best candidates for the job
Source - Attracting the best pool of suitable candidates for the job
