CETTs are networks of organisations involved in ITT and CPD in the learning and skills sector. CETTs operate in different areas in England. The listing on this page provides information on the lead organisation and access to further information, including regional contacts and information.
The Institute for Learning is the professional body for teachers, trainers, tutors and student teachers in the learning and skills sector. By listening to and supporting the needs of our members the IfL continue to raise the status of teaching practitioners across the sector.
These modules offered at level 3 and level 4 are for experienced trainers. The training is about creating or adapting learning materials for those who work with adults with learning difficulties or disabilities. The trainer and participant packs can be downloaded from this website or ordered free.
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) is the independent employer-led sector skills council representing the interests of the 1 million+ individuals working in the lifelong learning sector. LLLUK has developed a professional development qualification at Level 5 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for those in a full teaching role, who hold an appropriate teaching qualification and have personal skills in English and Mathematics at level 2 (QCF). The professional development qualification focuses on embedded approaches and integrated practice to develop literacy, language and numeracy skills. A key focus is how literacy, language and numeracy teachers can work with teachers of other areas of specialism.
National Reference Point Skills for Life
The NRP provides latest news and guidance relating to Skills for Life professional development. The information provided is relevant to all those with an interest in professional development for people working in the further education (FE) system. The NRP aims to provide up-to-date information on current development work undertaken by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) and also performs a research role in relation to information and advice. Staff work closely with the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) to ensure that relevant information and advice is available on a national and regional level.
The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics provides effective strategic leadership for mathematics-specific CPD.
The national teaching and learning change programme, designed to transform teaching, training and learning in selected subjects in the post-16 sector by developing and supporting ‘Subject Learning Coaches’ and ‘e-Guides’. The programme promotes whole organisational approaches to quality improvement and offers support for leaders and managers and initial teacher educators.

The fourth edition of the Skills for Life professional development planning pack was launched by the Improvement Programme in February 2008. This pack sets out to support Skills for Life professional development planners with professional development planning for their staff teams.
These modular materials have been developed to support teacher trainers involved in delivering accredited training programmes for all staff teaching literacy, numeracy and language learners. The modules are arranged in small 'bite-size' chunks to suit busy teachers.

This CPD module on Persistence, personalization and progression, was developed by LLU+ at South Bank University. It has been designed for curriculum managers, teacher trainers, and experienced teachers. The module is available for organisations to use for their own CPD. It can also be accredited and can be put towards an MA, or postgraduate certificate.
The Teaching and Learning Programme aims to support providers to improve the quality of teaching and learning by linking organisational strategies for quality improvement, continuing professional development and the Subject Learning Coach model.
